Frequently asked questions.

What is an extended warranty?

An extended warranty is a service contract that you can get through a third party, either when purchasing your vehicle or after the manufacturer warranty expires. It has different coverage levels that can protect your vehicle from future issues. There is usually a mileage and time limit for the coverage. It covers the parts, labor, roadside assistance and sometimes trip interruption.

Is it required to have an extended warranty?

Although it is suggested to have an extended warranty to protect your vehicle from any unforeseen issues, it is not required. It is there to help with issues that can be expensive and help avoid out-of-pocket expenses.

Are there any requirements I need to do before using my extended warranty?

Most companies require a 30 day, 1000 mile waiting period once you sign up. If you sign up while you still have coverage on your vehicle, you can tell them when your current warranty is over and it will start once the current one expires.

Does anything disqualify a vehicle from coverage?

A vehicle will be disqualified if there is an issue prior to obtaining an extended warranty. If you do not keep up with proper maintenance of your vehicle and it causes an issue with that part or another part in the vehicle, it wont be covered.

What is not covered with an extended warranty?

Maintenance and regular wear and tear items such as hoses, belts, oil changes, etc. are not covered. Recalls are handled by the dealership and are not covered under an extended warranty either.

What is the difference between inclusionary and exclusionary coverage?

Inclusionary coverage covers the stated components only. Any items either written under the exclusions and/or any items left out altogether will not be covered under this type of policy. Versus an Exclusionary policy does virtually the opposite. It’s purpose is to cover everything in the vehicle but. The but would be typical maintenance items, cosmetics items and general misuse, abuse, modifications of the vehicle outside of prebuilt or requested specifications directly provided from the manufacturer.
